Job summary

GI Group is recruiting a Sub Contract Manager (Level 7) to support a high-profile Future Combat Air programme in Luton. Hybrid role, 37 hours per week, with 2–3 days on site and international supplier engagement.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll lead subcontracting, contract documentation and supplier performance, shaping lifecycle management across complex programmes while ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Advanced commercial/procurement advisory experience.
• Defence/aerospace procurement background preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Understanding of contracting, commercial and legal considerations in regulated environments.
• Experience with Life Cycle Management (LCM) processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement within an integrated project team, including subcontract management.
• Forecast and report subcontract spend.
• Source and onboard specialist suppliers for emerging technologies.
• Manage supplier performance and contractual obligations.
• Draft and negotiate complex contract documentation.
• Translate customer requirements into robust commercial documents.
• Identify and mitigate commercial/contractual risk; ensure flow-down of T&Cs.
• Develop procurement strategies across the project lifecycle.
• Produce Life Cycle Management deliverables for contracts and supply chain.
• Ensure export compliance, restrictions and third-party rights are managed.

GI Group are recruiting for a Sub Contract Manager (Level 7) to support a high-profile Future Combat Air programme, delivering 6th generation combat air capability across GCAP/FCAS and related initiatives.

Role overview

As an experienced procurement professional, you’ll support a range of complex assignments—from day-to-day supplier and contract management (including flow-down of customer terms and conditions) through to strategic supply chain design on an international programme and support to strategic bid activity.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, influencing decision-making across the Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework. You’ll develop robust sub-contracts that reflect lifecycle factors, maintain strong supplier relationships, and balance short-term delivery with long-term objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement within an integrated project team, including subcontract management

• Translate customer/project requirements into robust commercial documentation

• Develop procurement strategies across the project lifecycle to influence business decisions
• Produce and lead Life Cycle Management (LCM) deliverables for contracts and supply chain
• Ensure export compliance, restrictions and third-party rights are managed

What you’ll bring

• Advanced commercial/procurement advisory experience (MCIPS preferred)
• Defence/Aerospace (or similarly regulated) procurement background, able to work with minimal supervision
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills
• Solid understanding of contracting, commercial and legal considerations in regulated environments
