Job summary

Randstad Construction & Property is seeking a Freelance Sub Agent with strong RC and civils experience for a Central London site in a London Underground environment. You will lead day-to-day delivery of RC and civils works, coordinating direct labor and subcontractors, and ensuring RAMS/ITPs/WPPs meet LUL standards.

The role requires valid CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid, plus a Civil Engineering qualification (degree/HND/HNC).

Qualifications

• Proven track record as Sub Agent or Senior Engineer on LUL, TfL, or rail projects.
• Experience in RC frameworks, heavy civils and shaft works.
• Valid CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid.
• Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering.
• Strong commercial awareness and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive day-to-day delivery of the RC and civils packages with direct labour and subcontractors.
• Write, review, and implement RAMS, ITPs, and WPPs to strict LUL standards.
• Manage QA/QC and ensure engineering accuracy.
• Coordinate Temporary Works and lifting operations safely.
• Act as on-site contact for Principal Contractor and client representatives.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental protocols in a regulated underground environment.

Freelance Sub Agent - RC & LUL Civils

Location: Central London Rate: £430 per day (CIS) Contract Length: 6 months+

Are you an experienced Sub Agent with a strong background in reinforced concrete and general civils ideally within a London Underground (LUL) environment?

We are partnering with a highly respected specialist sub-contractor to deliver a critical package of works in Central London. You will be the operational lead on site, ensuring that complex RC structures and civils packages are delivered safely, on time, and strictly in line with LUL standards.

The Project Scope

• Complex Reinforced Concrete (RC) works in the "back of house" LUL station environment.
• General civil engineering packages.
• Logistically challenging shaft backfill operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving the day-to-day delivery of the RC and civils packages, managing both direct labor and specialist sub-contractors.
• Writing, reviewing, and implementing complex RAMS, ITPs, and Work Package Plans (WPPs) tailored to strict LUL standards.
• Managing QA/QC and ensuring top-tier engineering accuracy.
• Coordinating Temporary Works and lifting operations safely.
• Acting as the main point of contact on-site for the Principal Contractor and client representatives.
• Ensuring strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols in a highly regulated, logistically tight underground environment.

What We're Looking For

• A proven track record working as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer ideally on LUL, TfL, or major rail station infrastructure projects.
• Strong technical experience in RC frameworks, heavy civils, and shaft works.
• Valid CSCS, SMSTS, and First Aid.
• Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering.
• Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills.

The Package

• £430 a day paid via CIS.
• Long-term freelance work on a high-profile Central London transport project.
