Sub Agent Civil Engineering

Location: North East London

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Synopsis

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sub Agent to join a leading civil engineering and infrastructure organisation. The successful candidate will help deliver complex projects across sectors including water, transport, energy, and the built environment. This role offers long‑term career stability, progression opportunities, and involvement in major UK infrastructure schemes.

The Role

As a Sub Agent, you will oversee small‑value civil engineering and construction sites, or support senior management on larger projects. You will ensure projects meet delivery objectives, maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality, environmental compliance and cost control.

Key Responsibilities
Site Management
  • Manage and ensure commercial performance of projects.
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and maintain project programmes.
  • Interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Provide engineering expertise to project teams.
  • Conduct site inductions and ensure staff competency.
  • Act as a company ambassador with clients and third parties.
  • Produce accurate monthly progress reports.
  • Chair weekly site meetings and manage as‑built documentation.
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
  • Ensure compliance with all HSEQ legislation and internal policies.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and environmental best practices.
  • Conduct and record regular site inspections and audits.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and third parties.
  • Ensure all QA documentation is completed and maintained.
Cost Control
  • Develop and manage project cost plans.
  • Maximise project value through effective cost management.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate site records and diaries.
Resource Management
  • Manage labour, materials and subcontractor resources efficiently.
  • Address resourcing issues promptly to minimise impact.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Delivery of accurate weekly and monthly reports.
  • Achievement of business unit objectives.
  • Meeting or exceeding 3 Pillar KPI targets.
Key Relationships
  • Clients and stakeholders.
  • Subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Internal project teams and support departments.
About You (Essential)
  • Extensive civil engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts, CDM regulations and cost control.
  • Proficient in interpreting specifications and testing regimes.
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Valid CSCS and SMSTS certifications.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
Desirable
  • Working towards CEng / IEng AMICE or equivalent.
  • Experience in the water sector.
  • Temporary Works Co‑ordinator qualification.
  • Leadership and confined space experience.
  • Appointed Person (CPCS) card.
