Job summary

Randstad CPE are seeking a proactive Sub Agent for a high-value water infrastructure project near Maidstone, Kent. You will oversee civil site packages, supervise engineers and subcontractors, and ensure works meet client specifications.

Working under the Project Manager, you will manage planning, QA, and safety for the AMP8 programme, with an immediate start on an ongoing contract basis. UK-based applicants only.

Qualifications

• Water sector background and civil engineering experience on water infrastructure projects.
• Strong site supervision and package delivery skills on complex works.
• Ability to plan short-term production and manage interfaces with clients and teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive day-to-day delivery of civil site packages and supervise site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors.
• Build and maintain 3–4 week lookaheads and track progress against milestones.
• Resolve technical queries and coordinate temporary works with design and construction teams.
• Enforce QA through ITPs, sign-offs, and non-conformance resolution.
• Lead safety and RAMS reviews, issue Permits to Dig/Work and ensure water-sector standards.

Sub Agent (Civil Engineering & Water Infrastructure)

Location: Maidstone, Kent

Contract Rate: £400 - £450 per day (LTD - IR35 Determination Pending)

Duration: Ongoing Contract (AMP8 Framework)

Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Project Overview

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Sub Agent to step into a key operational role on a high-value water treatment infrastructure project near Maidstone.

This long-term assignment forms part of the AMP8 capital investment programme. Working directly under the Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of complex civil engineering packages-ranging from deep excavations and earthworks to reinforced concrete (RC) retention structures and process pipework routes-ensuring site progress remains on schedule and fully compliant with client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Execution & Supervision: Drive the day-to-day delivery of civil site packages, managing site engineers, foremen, direct workforces, and specialist sub-contractors.

• Planning & Schedule Control: Build and update 3-to-4 week short-term production lookaheads, tracking daily outputs against key project milestones.

• Technical Management: Resolve live technical queries (TQs), coordinate temporary works requirements, and interface between client design engineers and front-line construction teams.

• Quality Assurance (QA): Drive "Right First Time" delivery by enforcing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), managing QA sign-offs, and resolving site non-conformances promptly.

• Safety & Compliance: Conduct site inductions, review and approve Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS), issue Permits to Dig/Work, and enforce strict water-sector safety standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Water Sector Background: Practical experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer delivering civil engineering infrastructure on active water or wastewater facilities (WTW / WwTW).

• Core Technical Competencies: Strong technical grounding in deep drainage, heavy structural concrete, groundworks, and temporary works management.

• Qualifications: Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent industry experience).

• Mandatory Tickets:

  • Valid CSCS Card (Management / Gold or Black)

  • SMSTS & First Aid at Work

  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card

• Desirable: Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or Confined Spaces (Medium/High Risk).
