A UK construction firm is seeking a skilled Sub Agent to support the delivery of a significant highways programme in Birmingham. The role requires proven motorway experience, excellent coordination skills, and a strong background in construction compliance. Responsibilities include managing daily site activities, ensuring adherence to specifications, and driving performance. Candidates should hold a relevant degree and possess a CSCS card, with additional certifications preferred.
We are looking for a skilled Sub Agent with proven motorway experience to support the delivery of a major highways programme in Birmingham. The successful candidate will help drive safe, compliant, and efficient construction activities, contributing to the successful completion of critical national infrastructure.
Assist the Site Agent and Project Manager with the management of daily site activities on highways and motorway upgrade works.
Provide technical oversight to ensure adherence to design specifications, regulatory standards, and National Highways requirements.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour teams to drive performance and productivity.
Manage site documentation including ITPs, quality records, daily diaries, and progress reporting.
Support programme planning, sequencing of works, and resource allocation.
Promote and enforce health & safety compliance, ensuring full alignment with CDM regulations and motorway traffic management protocols.
Assist in the development of method statements, risk assessments, and temporary works requirements.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders including National Highways, local authorities, utilities providers, and local communities.
Drive issue resolution, problem-solving, and proactive risk management.
Strong background in highways construction with specific hands‑on motorway project experience.
Knowledge of motorway traffic management techniques and standards (e.g., Chapter 8).
Familiarity with NEC contract administration and National Highways specifications (DMRB / MCHW).
Ability to interpret technical drawings and lead teams effectively on live motorway environments.
Experience working around live traffic and complex traffic management setups.
Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
CSCS card essential; SMSTS / SSSTS, First Aid desired.
Full UK driving licence.
