Job summary

Barnet and Southgate College is inviting applications for a Permanent Part Time Study Support Assistant to join the Student Services team. The role involves supporting a caseload of students with learning support needs and developing SMART support plans to help them achieve their targets.

Applicants should understand SEND legislation in a college context and have experience in engagement strategies, initial assessments and addressing barriers to learning.

Qualifications

  • Experience of drawing up an agreed support plan with SMART targets to meet appropriate criteria and remove barriers to learning.
  • Working knowledge of SEND legislation and how it applies to students in a college environment.
  • Understanding of student engagement strategies, initial assessment processes and the barriers to learning

Responsibilities

  • Provide a helpful, professional and flexible service to internal or external customers of the department or the College.
  • Act in accordance with College values and positively represent Barnet and Southgate College in all aspects of your work.

Barnet & Southgate College offer an exciting opportunity to join the College as a Study Support Assistant working as part of our team that helps to ensure students are supported thus enhancing their chances of success at college and in life. Proven ability to manage and support a caseload of students with learning support needs. Experience of drawing up an agreed support plan with SMART targets to meet appropriate criteria and remove barriers to learning.

Working knowledge of SEND legislation and how it applies to students in a college environment. Understanding of student engagement strategies, initial assessment processes and the barriers to learning claim.
