Job summary

GEDU Global Education is seeking a Study Skills Lecturer for our Birmingham on-site operations. You will design, plan and deliver teaching sessions to help students develop and sharpen their academic skills and assess student work, ensuring learning outcomes are met.

You will provide meaningful feedback and guide students while collaborating on programme design, development and enhancement across faculties and partners. A Master's degree and UK HE teaching experience are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
• Experience of teaching in UK higher education in a relevant discipline.
• Experience of widening access environments.
• Experience of supervising student work and providing feedback.
• Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support or peer-assisted learning.
• A high level of digital literacy and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.

Department: Academic - as part of our partnerships with either University of Suffolk (UoS), Bath Spa University (BSU), Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) or Pearson

Location: Birmingham (On-Site)

Salary: £51,000 per annum

Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

The role

We are seeking Study Skills Lecturers to join our growing team and create a positive impact on the lives of our students by cultivating the skills that shape their academic success. The areas you will be focusing on are: English language and numeracy, academic writing and referencing, organisational and digital skills, research, critical/analytical thinking, presentation skills, and more.

Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• A Master's degree in relevant subject area (PhD desirable)
• Demonstrable experience of teaching in UK higher education in a relevant discipline
• Experience of, and a passion for working in widening access environments
• Experience of supervising student work and providing support and feedback
• Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development, such as reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills (quantitative or qualitative), project and dissertation support or peer-assisted learning
• A high level of digital literacy and communication skills
• Attention to detail, accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• DELTA/CELTA qualification
• Expertise in digital educational resources development, course design and curriculum development
• A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent)
