Overview

Studio coordinator for Materials Lab, large metals. 14.8 hours per week, fixed‑term until 31 July 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Run day‑to‑day studio operations, maintain safe and well‑maintained environment.
  • Coordinate timetabled activity, deliver inductions and demonstrations, support students during open‑access sessions.
  • Ensure studio is appropriately resourced, including equipment, consumables and technical support.
  • Plan and deliver curriculum‑aligned activities with Technical Resource Manager and academic teams.
  • Contribute to university‑wide technical workshops and enrichment activities.
  • Monitor budgets, support exhibitions and recruitment events, contribute to ongoing improvements across wider technical resource provision.
  • Act in hands‑on, student‑facing capacity that combines technical practice, studio oversight and collaborative curriculum support.
Qualifications
  • Experience teaching, demonstrating or supporting learning in a creative studio environment.
  • Organised, proactive, skilled metals practitioner.
  • Strong knowledge of large‑scale metalworking processes including welding, fabrication, plasma cutting, grinding, core bench skills.
  • Enthusiasm for sharing technical expertise and supporting learner development.
  • Confidence working with diverse range of students, delivering inductions, guiding safe and effective working practices.
  • A solid understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a workshop environment.
  • Strong planning, communication, resource‑management skills to ensure smooth studio operations.
  • Positive, flexible attitude, strong IT competence.
