Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for learners and exam candidates.
  • Providing day-to-day support, encouragement and guidance.
  • Administering and invigilating high-stakes examinations.
  • Offering 1:1 support to students who need extra help.
  • Monitoring progress, identifying barriers and helping learners stay on track.
  • Running mock interviews and CV clinics to support job seekers.
  • Accurate record-keeping and general administration.
  • Supporting with the smooth running of the training centre.

About the Job

As a Student Support Officer, you ll play a vital role in supporting learners throughout their journey, ensuring each individual feels motivated, confident and fully supported.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Acting as the first point of contact for learners and exam candidates
  • Providing day‑to‑day support, encouragement and guidance
  • Administering and invigilating high‑stakes examinations
  • Offering 1:1 support to students who need extra help
  • Monitoring progress, identifying barriers and helping learners stay on track
  • Running mock interviews and CV clinics to support job seekers
  • Celebrating achievements and organising graduation ceremonies
  • Accurate record‑keeping and general administration
  • Contributing to social media content creation
  • Supporting with the smooth running of the training centre
  • Carrying out additional duties aligned with team and organisational goals

This role is fully in‑person at the Reading centre and follows a 37.5‑hour working pattern, including two late Thursdays and two Saturdays per month (with a weekday off in lieu).

Ideal Candidate

You will be someone who genuinely loves helping others and thrives in a student‑focused, fast‑paced environment.

You’ll ideally have:
  • At least 1 year of experience in administration or a customer‑facing role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational ability and high accuracy
  • Confidence using IT, Microsoft Outlook and Teams
  • Great critical thinking and time‑management skills
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to learn
  • The ability to work independently while being a supportive team player
