Position: Student Support and Safeguarding Officer (on-site)

Location: Ipswich, Suffolk IP4 1LT

Salary: £29,007 pro rata

Hours: 14.48 hours per week (2 days), 52 weeks per year

Contract: Permanent, required as soon as possible

Job Purpose
  • Manage a caseload of learners and offer support, information and guidance in order to enable them to stay on programme and achieve or progress onto a positive outcome.
  • To be part of the college’s Safeguarding Team, working within the college’s safeguarding policies and procedures, offering a timely, professional, solution‑focused service to both learners and staff.
  • Work as part of a pro‑active, multi‑functional, cross‑college team providing support, advice and guidance on a range of topics to both existing and prospective learners, and to provide an outstanding integrated and pro‑active service.
  • Manage a caseload of learners offering support, information and guidance to enable them to stay on their study programme, supporting them to achieve or progress onto a positive outcome.
  • Liaise with a range of stakeholders, including parents/carers, social workers and other external professionals.
  • Meet the needs of learners who present with more generic “one‑off” queries on any given day.

Suffolk New College (SNC) is based in Ipswich, the county town of Suffolk, near the thriving waterfront and town centre. The college also has the Suffolk Rural Campus at Otley, and the ‘On the Coast’ provision with centres in Halesworth and Leiston. As Suffolk New College is a multi‑campus site, you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
