Student Experience Advisor

Location: Tresham College - Wellingborough Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People's pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 20 hours per week - 40 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time

About the role

We are currently seeking a Student Experience Advisor to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group on a Fixed Term basis.

As a Student Experience Advisor, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Careers Guidance & Progression Support - Deliver impartial careers advice to students and applicants, support UCAS applications, facilitate progression routes, and contribute to the design and delivery of a cross‑college careers programme.
  • Pastoral, Financial & Welfare Support - Provide personal guidance on health, welfare, and financial matters including bursaries, benefits, and HE funding; assess applications and refer students to appropriate support services.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication - Work closely with tutors, internal teams, and external agencies to promote opportunities, deliver staff development, and represent the college at events and outreach activities.
  • Service Development & Quality Assurance - Collect and report data on service impact, maintain accurate safeguarding records, ensure compliance with policies, and contribute to strategic and innovative projects.
  • College‑Wide Responsibilities & Statutory Duties - Support enrolment, open days, invigilation, and safeguarding; uphold equality, health & safety, and engage in ongoing training and development in line with TBCG values.
About you
  • Qualifications & Professional Development - Holds Level 2 English and Maths, a Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject, and is working towards or holds a Level 6 CEIAG qualification and Youth Mental Health First Aid certification.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Able to communicate confidently with students and staff at all levels, write formal/informal correspondence, and maintain a professional telephone manner.
  • Administrative & Organisational Skills - Demonstrates high‑level administration, planning, and event coordination skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Experience & Technical Competence - Experienced in working with diverse groups, supporting individuals 1:1 and in groups, and proficient in Word, Excel, and database systems.
  • Personal Attributes & Commitment - Friendly, flexible, and reliable with a can‑do attitude; committed to safeguarding, equality, and continuous improvement; willing to travel across sites and adapt working hours.
