The Student Experience Directorate (SED) within the University of Southampton is recruiting! Click here to find out more about the departments.

We are looking for motivated individuals to work in some of our operational, administrative and support roles that directly contribute to our students having the best possible experience while studying and living at the University of Southampton.

Part‑time Roles
  • Customer Services Supervisor – Health Sciences Library at Southampton General Hospital, 13:45 – 20:15 Friday – Sunday.
  • Admissions Coordinator – Highfield Campus, 18 hours per week, Monday – Friday, hybrid working options.

Other part‑time roles may arise within the Directorate.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Students will experience strong customer service skills. You may be the first point of contact for students who need information or support or carry out an administrative role coordinating with professional services or academic colleagues to ensure the smooth running of programmes and courses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high‑quality customer service and support to students and staff.
  • Managing front‑line queries and referrals.
  • Providing administrative support to academic programmes.
  • Supervisory duties (for the supervisory role) and developing leadership skills.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Excellent communication and IT skills.
  • Team‑player mentality, proactive and enthusiastic.
  • Adaptability and a positive attitude – prior university experience is not mandatory.

Part‑time roles will be paid pro‑rata. The full‑time starting salary is £27,319 with annual increments.

Shortlisted candidates will receive a short form for further information on role and working pattern preferences. Successful candidates will be invited to an in‑person assessment on Thursday 27 November or Tuesday 2 December 2025.
