Job summary

Harris Academy Wickford is seeking a passionate Home Academy Liaison Officer to champion student attendance, welfare, and inclusion. You will work with families and colleagues to help our most vulnerable students overcome challenges and engage fully in school life.

The role involves managing a caseload of at-risk students with attendance below 85%, implementing strategies to improve attendance, liaising with external agencies, and ensuring safeguarding duties are fulfilled.

Qualifications

• Experience in educational welfare or attendance monitoring.
• Ability to engage with families and external agencies.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing Educational Welfare across the academy.
• Managing a caseload of at-risk students, where attendance falls below 85% and implementing strategies to improve attendance.
• Monitoring and improving the attendance of vulnerable students, including Looked after pupils and those identified as in need by staff or external agencies.
• Organising meetings for vulnerable students to address attendance with external agencies and relevant staff.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory duties, including reporting persistent and severe absenteeism.
• Conducting home visits to engage families and address barriers to school attendance.
