Job description

Overall Purpose: As part of a dedicated team of practitioners, you will provide students with advice and guidance on various aspects of student life. You will support students with budgeting and student finance. You will help students navigate academic options within academic regulations, such as making changes to their programme or taking a break from their studies. You will also provide information on student and graduate route visas. Additionally, you will support students in making the most of their student experience at MDX.

As a student adviser, you will offer empathetic and pragmatic support to students facing barriers to success, struggling to engage with their studies, or needing advice following changes in their personal or academic circumstances. You will guide students through available interventions and identify when they would benefit from advice or intervention from colleagues in mental health and wellbeing, disability, or academic support teams.

You will use data to identify students who may be struggling to engage in their studies and provide proactive, assertive support to maximize positive student outcomes in continuation and attainment.

You will work in a collaborative, student-centred way to unpick and resolve complex and multi-issue challenges with students and colleagues across the university, ensuring students are informed and empowered to make the right decisions for them.
