You will work across a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial and wider structural projects, with the opportunity to manage your own workload and build long-term client relationships as your knowledge of the business develops.

This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical design work with surveys, reporting and practical project delivery. You will have direct access to experienced directors, structured support during your first few months and increasing autonomy as you become familiar with the consultancy’s clients and standards.

What you will be doing
  • Completing structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures
  • Producing clear, accurate structural calculation packs
  • Working on existing buildings, alterations and new structural schemes
  • Using Tekla Tedds and AutoCAD to support design and technical drawing work
  • Undertaking structural surveys and preparing professional reports
  • Supporting commercial and industrial projects, including machinery foundation design
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and colleagues to keep projects progressing
  • Taking increasing ownership of individual projects and client relationships
  • Travelling to client sites when required

The wider project mix includes commercial and industrial work alongside projects across the consultancy’s broader civil and structural portfolio.

What you will bring

You will need demonstrable practical capability in:

  • Steel design
  • Concrete design
  • Structural work involving existing buildings and alterations
  • Structural surveys and report writing
  • Tekla Tedds
  • AutoCAD
  • Producing accurate structural calculation packs

You should also be comfortable communicating with clients and working towards independent project ownership.

IEng status would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from Structural Engineers who are actively working towards professional recognition.

You must have the right to work in the UK, a full UK driving licence and access to your own car for business travel.

Salary, benefits and working pattern
  • Salary up to £45,000, with some flexibility for a particularly strong candidate
  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Flexible start and finish times
  • Three days per week in the Pontefract office
  • Hybrid working available after a three-month probation period, typically one to two days from home
  • Company-wide performance bonus paid every six months
  • Annual salary review
  • 24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 26 days after two years
  • Professional subscriptions paid
  • Statutory pension
  • Business mileage reimbursed at 55p per mile
