Job summary

Vertical Recruitment is supporting a Manchester-based structural engineering consultancy to hire a Structural Engineer with 3+ years' experience. You will lead design, calculations and deliverables while collaborating with senior engineers and technicians.

Located in central Manchester, the role offers mentorship toward Chartered status, a varied project portfolio and exposure to client liaison, design reviews and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of three years' relevant consultancy experience.
• Graduate membership of IStructE or ICE.
• Experience towards Chartered Engineer status with commitment to PDP.
• Experience developing structural designs, preparing calculations and delivering project work.
• Ability to manage projects with a degree of autonomy.
• Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with clients and design team.
• Proactive problem-solving and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Awareness of budgets, timescales, QA and health & safety requirements.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural and civil engineering designs across project stages.
• Prepare structural calculations including load takedowns.
• Apply stability principles and develop engineering solutions.
• Produce sketches, diagrams and technical information for concepts.
• Coordinate design information with technicians and other disciplines.
• Manage drafting work and review deliverables for quality.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and project coordination meetings.
• Prepare structural reports, specifications and documentation.
• Undertake site visits during construction and report on progress.
• Manage multiple projects, delivering on time, budget and scope.
• Identify design risks and contribute to risk assessments and planning.
• Provide guidance to graduate and junior engineers.
• Maintain QA procedures and ensure work is reviewed.
