Job description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to expand their expertise into the field of construction underwriting. This hybrid role combines technical engineering proficiency with the ability to assess and advise on construction-related project risks. It will lead on to pricing strategy and underwriting responsibility. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in structural engineering, excellent communication skills, and an interest in the benefits that their engineering experience can bring to insurance.

What you will do as a Structural Engineer :

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following.

Project Information Review :

Conduct a comprehensive review of the general project Information provided by various stakeholders, including the Design Team, Main Contractor, and Specialist Sub-Contractors. This will include :

• General Arrangement Structural Engineering and Architectural drawings.
• Construction Method Statements, such as those for basement construction (e.g., underpinning, piling).
• Geotechnical Reports and Basement Impact Assessments or similar documentation.
• Temporary Works proposals.
