Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP in Plymouth is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our southwest team. The role focuses on outlining, scheme and detailed design, with opportunities to lead design elements and actively participate on projects.

You will gain exposure to site visits, design coordination, and QA procedures while progressing toward professional qualifications and holding a UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) (or above such as MEng (Hons) / MSc) in Civil or Structural Engineering at grade 2:1 or above.
• A solid foundation of work experience in engineering and / or on-site.
• A good basic understanding of the regulatory requirements including Eurocodes.
• Experience using AutoCAD and Revit software packages would be desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English.
• Actively pursuing professional development leading to a professional qualification.
• Hold a current UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Undertake outline, scheme, and detailed engineering designs as appropriate on projects.
• Carry out detailed design calculations and expand knowledge using latest design software.
• Ensure calculation packages, drawings, specifications, reports, and other deliverables for projects are to expected quality standards prior to issue.
• Prepare reports and general correspondence as required in connection with projects.
• Undertake survey inspections and produce written reports on findings, set out in a logical manner with appropriate recommendations.
• Liaise with other members of the design and construction teams, both internal and external, representing the engineering team.
• Assist in preparing design programmes for production deliverables.
• Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to contractors.
• Ensure Ridge document management and QA procedures are complied with.
• When required, assist other members and disciplines of the team to complete tasks particularly in relation to meeting project deadlines.
