AtkinsRéalis in Newcastle is seeking a Structural Engineer to design and deliver building structures projects across a varied client base. You will contribute from concept through detailed design, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and clients to embed innovation, sustainability, and safety in every solution.

The role offers exposure to industrial, commercial, education, and infrastructure projects, with opportunities to grow technical skills, work with BIM standards, and support junior

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Graduate Member of IStructE or ICE; aiming for Chartership.
  • Experience designing with steel, concrete, timber, masonry to Eurocodes.
  • Familiarity with Tekla Structural Designer, Robot or Revit is desirable.

### **Job Description**## OverviewYou’ll play a key role in delivering projects within our Building Structures team in Newcastle, taking responsibility for both design and project delivery across a varied client base. From detailed design on new build developments to the assessment and strengthening of existing structures, no two projects are the same – offering excellent scope to broaden your experience and develop your expertise.The Newcastle team combines a strong local presence with the backing of a global organization, providing the best of both worlds: meaningful regional work with national and international support, knowledge sharing, and career development opportunities.## Your roleAs a Structural Engineer, you will:* Apply engineering knowledge across a range of building structures projects.* Support project delivery from concept through to detailed design.* Contribute to innovative and sustainable design solutions.* Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.* Engage with clients and stakeholders on live projects.* Apply technical skills to a wide range of building structures and design scenarios.* Develop conceptual solutions through detailed design stages.* Assist in delivering projects within defined programme and cost parameters.* Contribute to the multi-disciplinary team approach on projects.* Undertake research, data collection, and presentation of findings.* Present results to clients under supervision of a lead designer.* Present findings and solutions through excellent written communication and report writing.* Represent AtkinsRéalis at site visits and design team meetings.* Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance procedures.* Work in accordance with BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work, and BIM Execution Plans.* Support and mentor junior or less experienced team members.* Maintain and develop a broad technical skillset.* Demonstrate proactive commitment to self-development.## About youYou’ll bring a strong technical foundation along with a proactive and collaborative approach:* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.* Graduate Member of a relevant professional body (IStructE or ICE).* Working towards, and be close to achieving Chartered status, or has recently achieved Chartership status.* Experience designing with traditional materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) to Eurocodes.* Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g. Tekla Structural Designer, Robot, Revit – desirable).* Willingness to learn and adopt new tools and technologies.* Interest in digital engineering, automation, and parametric design.* Strong communication skills.* Ability to work independently and take initiative.* Flexible and versatile in approach, undertaking design, inspection and technical advisory work, with responsibility for project aspects commensurate with proven capability and experience.* Curious mindset and enthusiasm for collaboration and idea-sharing.* Willingness to travel and work across different offices when required.## Rewards & benefitsExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.
