Structural Engineer - Temporary Works Focus

Are you a recently qualified Structural Engineer with up to 3 years of post‑graduate experience and a keen interest in temporary works design? Take the next step in your career with a respected construction and civil engineering contractor known for delivering complex, high‑profile projects across London and the South East. Our in‑house engineering team plays a critical role in delivering innovation, safety, and buildability – and temporary works design is at the heart of what we do.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Structural Engineer with a background or strong interest in temporary works design to support our growing portfolio. Based at our Northolt office with regular visits to central London sites, you’ll collaborate closely with temporary works coordinators, project managers, and site teams to deliver safe, buildable, and cost‑effective structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and detailing of structural elements, with a strong focus on temporary works
• Assist in the development, review, and coordination of temporary works schemes in line with industry best practice and site requirements
• Use AutoCAD and structural design software to produce and check drawings and design calculations
• Perform structural analysis under the guidance of senior engineers
• Liaise with site and project teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs
• Conduct site visits to support ongoing construction activities and resolve engineering challenges in real‑time

Ideal Candidate

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Up to 3 years of post‑graduate experience in a contractor or consultancy setting
• Direct experience or solid understanding of temporary works design (falsework, formwork, propping, shoring, etc.)
• Familiarity with reinforced concrete and steel structures
• Proficient in AutoCAD and structural analysis/design tools
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
• Comfortable splitting time between the Northolt office and active construction sites in London
