Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in one of our South West offices: Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, Cardiff or Basingstoke. You will assist with structural engineering design on complex projects, delivering within budgets and schedules under moderate supervision.

You will manage smaller projects and guide graduate engineers, while engaging with design teams and clients. Proficiency in Tekla Structures, SCIA Engineer, and TEDDS, along with strong English communication, is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering structural designs within a consultancy or engineering environment.
  • Ability to manage smaller projects and mentor graduate engineers.

Job description

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in one of their South West offices, Bristol, Plymouth, Exeter, Cardiff or Basingstoke. The role involves assisting with the structural engineering design of complex engineering projects while delivering work in line with agreed budgets and schedules under moderate supervision. The successful candidate will also take responsibility for managing and delivering smaller-scale projects and provide technical guidance and support to graduate engineers. Here’s what you'll do:

  • Production of structural designs
  • Managing and coordinating design input and output
  • Working with BIM technicians
  • Engaging with the internal design review process with one of our Lead Verifiers
  • Attending informal design workshops with other members of the design team
  • Maintaining outstanding technical quality
    Proven ability to develop design solutions, perform structural assessments and calculations, and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working on a variety of structural projects, including steel and concrete frames, with exposure to collaboration with external design teams and contractors.
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software such as Tekla Structures, SCIA Engineer, and TEDDS.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • The ideal candidate will have, or be able to obtain, security clearance., Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience) with relevant work experience in a consultancy or similar engineering environment.
