Role Purpose
We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will take the lead in designing and developing cutting-edge ROV trenching systems and components. Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure that project specifications are met, and designs are executed efficiently.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead structural and mechanical engineering design projects from concept through to manufacturing.
- Prepare detailed engineering calculations to support design decisions.
- Create detailed technical drawings and design documentation using 2D and 3D CAD software (preferably AutoCAD, MathCAD and Inventor).
- Conduct design reviews and simulations to validate concepts and improve designs.
- Oversee structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and power transmission systems and machinery design.
- Conduct FMECA, HAZOP, HAZID and safety by design reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project specifications are met efficiently.
- Ensure the suitability of designs for subsea and harsh environments, considering material science, corrosion effects, and hydraulic sealing systems.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
Key Tasks
- Develop specifications and concepts that align with user needs and project goals.
- Stress analysis, including beam theory, strength of materials.
- Welding and plating design, including design for machining, limits and fits.

- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations throughout the design process.
- Proficient with Free body diagrams for multi-body linkages.
- Check and approve hand calculations & FEA, including plates and shells, and beam element STAAD pro.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, MathCAD and Inventor) is essential.
- Working knowledge of DNV design codes for lifting appliances and marine operations.
- Previous experience of producing welding, machining and assembly drawings.
- Expertise in structural analysis, free body diagrams, scoping calculations, and FEA (Analysis/SolidWorks Simulation).
Demonstrable Experience Specific to Role
- Strong knowledge of mechanisms, kinematics, hydraulics, power transmission, and manufacturing techniques.
- Experience with material selection, corrosion protection, hydraulic sealing, and inspection/testing requirements.
- Experience managing projects from concept to completion in a technical environment.
