Skipton Building Society is recruiting a Stress Testing Senior Lead in the GFP&A team. The role focuses on driving the group’s stress testing framework across ICAAP, Recovery Planning, Reverse Stress Testing and climate risk scenarios, delivering governance-ready papers and actionable insights for senior management.

• Strong stress testing knowledge including PRA and Bank of England requirements relating to ICAAP, Reverse Stress Testing, Recovery Planning and Climate Risk Scenario Analysis.
• Experience coordinating end-to-end stress testing exercises including scenario design, model execution, review and governance.
• Ability to translate complex outputs into actionable insights for senior management and governance committees.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and enhancement of the Group's stress testing framework and operating model.
• Produce ICAAP, Recovery Plan and climate scenario analysis papers for boards and regulators.
• Lead governance forums with clear agendas, robust challenge and decisive stakeholder engagement.

Mutuality makes us different as we don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.Meet The TeamWe’re strengthening our Group Financial Planning and Analyis team, with additional resource required to drive Group stress testing activities.The GFP&A team, within Group Financial Performance, is a team of 8 colleagues working with financial business partners, business lines and executive teams throughout the Group.Our core role is to understand, report and forecast business performance, being able to explain with insight the consequences of decisions and identifying and recommending corrective actions to achieve strategic goals or mitigate financial risks.Turning data into insight, insight to action and action to customer satisfaction is central to all we do.What Will You Be Doing?You will have the opportunity to:Drive the continual development and enhancement of the Group's stress testing framework and operating model, driving a more agile, integrated and forward-looking approach across Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), Recovery Planning, Reverse Stress Testing, Climate Risk and ad hoc scenario analysis.Produce the Group's Reverse Stress Test and Climate Risk Scenario Analysis, lead stress testing delivery for the ICAAP, Recovery Planning and, ensuring alignment with internal frameworks and polices and regulatory compliance.Identify strategic, capital, liquidity and financial vulnerabilities arising from stress testing outcomes, developing actionable recommendations and influencing appropriate management responses.Design stress testing scenarios and provide independent review, challenge and interpretation of stress testing results, translating complex outputs into meaningful insights on capital, liquidity, profitability and balance sheet impacts.Maintain the Group's Stress Testing Policy and associated governance framework.Lead the delivery of key stress testing governance forums, ensuring clear agendas, robust challenge, clear decision-making and effective stakeholder engagement.Produce high quality Board, Executive and regulatory stress testing papers, clearly communicating risks, impacts, assumptions and recommendations to support effective decision-making.Act as a subject matter expert lead for stress testing and climate scenario analysis, building credibility and influencing decision-making across Finance, Risk, Treasury and business leadership teams.Maintain a detailed knowledge of prevailing and emerging stress testing requirements, including relevant PRA, Bank of England and Capital Requirements expectations for building societies, and recommend proportionate enhancements to the Group’s approach. Drive continuous improvement in stress testing methodologies, assumptions, governance and reporting, ensuring the approach remains proportionate, robust and fit for the future.What Do We Need From You?To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:Strong stress testing knowledge, including PRA and Bank of England requirements relating to ICAAP, Reverse Stress Testing, Recovery Planning and Climate Risk Scenario Analysis.Experience of coordinating and delivering end-to-end stress testing exercises, including scenario design, model execution, review and challenge, management actions, governance and final reporting.A strong understanding of capital, liquidity, profitability and balance sheet impacts under stress, and how stress testing supports strategic planning and risk management.Excellent analytical and modelling skills, enabling complex models and assumptions to be understood, validated and appropriately challenged.The ability to interpret, synthesise and clearly communicate the conclusions from complex stress testing activities to a range of stakeholders, including senior management and governance committees.Experience of developing stress testing documentation and regulatory submissions, including ICAAP, Recovery Plan and climate scenario analysis papers, ensuring a high standard of governance and auditability.Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Finance, Risk, Treasury and business teams to deliver high-quality stress testing outputs.Good understanding of climate risk, including transition and physical risk drivers, climate scenario methodologies and evolving regulatory expectations.Knowledge of the UK economic environment, financial services sector and key macroeconomic drivers, with the ability to translate emerging risks and trends into stress testing scenarios and insights.Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deliverables, coordinate contributions from a wide range of stakeholders and consistently meet demanding deadlines.A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with a focus on continuous improvement, process optimisation and enhancing the effectiveness of the Group's stress testing framework.High attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy, completeness and robustness of stress testing outputs and supporting documentation.The confidence to provide effective challenge to assumptions, methodologies and results, while maintaining strong and constructive relationships with stakeholders.What’s In It For You?Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible.
