Job summary

Northamptonshire Children’s Trust is seeking a Strengthening Families Assistant to work from one of our Children’s Centres in the West of Northampton. You will deliver family-focused, evidence-based interventions in homes or Family Hubs, supporting parents to improve parenting skills and build positive routines.

About the role

The Children and Family Support Service works with families to improve outcomes for children ensuring all children are safe, achieve their best in education, are ready for work and have skills for life, grow up healthy and have improved life chances.

As a Strengthening Families Assistant you will be based in one of our Children’s Centres in the West of Northampton.

What will you be doing?

As part of our Strengthening Families Teams, you will work with families and partners to provide effective help as early as possible.

• You will deliver evidence-based interventions on a one-to-one basis, either in family homes or within Family Hubs and Children's Centres.
• Supporting parents and carers to strengthen relationships, improve parenting skills and establish positive routines and boundaries.
• Planning and facilitating activities and group programmes, including Stay and Play sessions and parenting groups.
• Working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to coordinate support and improve outcomes for children and families.
• Monitoring progress, recording outcomes and maintaining accurate case records.
• Attending planning reviews, meetings and visits to assess needs and develop effective support plans.
• Contributing to local partnership working and supporting the ongoing development of services within the community.
• Taking part in training, team meetings and reflective practice to continually develop your skills and knowledge.

You are enthusiastic, self-motivated and thrive when working as part of a supportive team.

You have strong organisational skills and can manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

You hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification or above in a field related to working with Children and Families. and have experience supporting children, young people and families in home or community-based settings.

You are flexible in your approach to work and can meet the needs of families, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Above all, you are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Barred List check
