A local government authority is seeking a Traffic Management Officer to ensure compliance with streetworks regulations and maintain public safety on highways. Grade 6, £29,540 - £32,597 per annum. 37 hours per week

This exciting role is part of the Highways and Network Management services. The team provides a front‑line service to all highway users by ensuring the council’s highways infrastructure is maintained to a high standard and congestion is minimised through effective Traffic Management.
In this role you will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice relating to streetworks activities carried out by utility companies, contractors and internal teams. The postholder will monitor, inspect and enforce standards to minimise disruption, maintain public safety and protect the integrity of the highway network.
You will exhibit the BeWigan behaviours and have experience of working in a highway/traffic management environment.
You will have strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical standards, work as part of a team and as an individual, solve problems and make decisions.
You will be an effective communicator with good customer care and negotiation skills and will work constructively with elected members, senior managers and other internal/external organisations.
