JOB TITLE: Street Cleaning Supervisor

REF: Bradford 5279850

Pay rate: £14.13 per hour PAYE

Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 1 to 2 months

Working Arrangement: On site

Post holders will be expected to work unsocial hours and weekends as part of a 4 x 4 shift rota.

Full UK driving licence required.

Class C driving licence desired but not essential.

In order to apply for this role you will have recent experience in a similar role which includes the supervision of staff on a daily basis within waste management and street cleaning or similar facilities management.

The role

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking an Area Operations/ Street Cleaning Supervisor to supervise a team of up to six Street Cleansing Ambassadors and a Mechanical Sweeper Driver.

You will work closely with Area Teams, Neighbourhood Wardens, Environmental Enforcement Officers, Gully Teams, Highways and external partners to deliver a consistent, high-quality cleansing service across the local area.

As part of the role you will ensure the cleansing service runs efficiently across the local area, making sure all staff and vehicles follow relevant laws, policies and procedures. This includes Supervising, motivating and developing staff and managing and deploying vehicles, equipment and materials effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and train staff, plan daily workloads, allocate resources and make on-the-spot operational decisions.
  • Lead and coordinate multiple outdoor teams delivering street cleansing and environmental maintenance in local neighbourhoods.
  • Promote and enforce health & safety, ensuring staff follow all policies and procedures.
  • Deliver training on operational matters, including health & safety and customer care.
  • Drive and operate a wide range of vehicles and machinery, from 3.5–32 tonne vehicles to sweepers and mowers.
  • Help design and implement deployment plans and routes; monitor staff and vehicle deployment daily and report issues.
  • Prepare prices and quotes for internal and external customers.
  • Maintain security and daily checks of equipment and vehicles, ensuring defects, repairs and compliance issues are addressed.
What the client is looking for
  • Recent experience in a similar role which includes the supervision of staff on a daily basis within a large multi-functional organisation, within waste management.
  • Previous experience of supervising and motivating staff.
  • Experienced in deputising for a senior officer.
  • Previous experience of organising daily workloads.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety, risk assessment and working procedures.
  • Previous experience of dealing with other colleagues and members of the public.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Class C driving licence desired but not essential.
