Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic and visionary Strategy and Transformation Manager to join our Jameson Division. As a senior member of the Business and Transformation team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mental health and learning disability services. Your expertise will guide the division's transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the NHS – including the 10 Year Plan.

In this Band 8A role, you will lead the coordination and delivery of transformational projects within the Young Adult and Adult portfolio, working closely with clinical and operational staff, as well as external partners. Your ability to manage complex projects and drive service redesign will be crucial in enhancing patient care and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candidate with an understanding of the mental healthcare landscape and a passion for improving the lives of those with mental health conditions and learning disabilities. Your communication skills will be essential in liaising with senior divisional team members and driving forward change.

Overview
  • Support the Division by taking lead responsibility for coordinating and driving delivery of transformational aspects within a defined portfolio.
  • Take a lead role in the identification and delivery of transformation and strategic opportunities for mental health and learning disabilities.
  • Utilise project/ programme management methodology, supporting and directing project leads including the Strategy, Transformation & Partnerships team, wider clinical/ operational staff, and partners including ICBS & LAs, experts by experience and third sector organisations.

Job responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • As part of the wider Divisional Strategy and Business plan coordinate the work to develop Divisional business and service development objectives, ensuring an appropriate balance of top-down and bottom-up approaches such that the resulting strategy and plan are tailored to deliver Trust-wide, local and national priorities.
  • Lead on complex change management programmes, coordinating work with service users and carers, clinicians, operational managers and system partners to develop and test new ideas and approaches that could bring about increased quality and efficiency, working closely with the Senior Strategy & Transformation Lead.
  • Implementation of projects with agreed project management processes within the defined quality, time and cost constraints across a wide area of clinical and non-clinical services.
  • Undertaking high level monitoring, recording and reporting of all aspects of an ongoing programme including monitoring the impact and outcomes.
  • Cost and budget plan transformational change in line with new investment from the ICB.
  • Develop funding proposals to enable the delivery of strategy and transformational priorities.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of information provided to commissioners and wider system partners. Ensure that reports are appropriately reviewed and validated before they are issued and provide high-quality analysis of the information presented so that commissioners are given a comprehensive and considered picture of activity, service levels and any service issues.
  • Matrix working across senior leads in the team, working on discreet projects for different portfolios sometimes outside of direct line management structures.
  • Be an active and engaged member of the team, taking a role in supporting the team’s ethos of individual commitment to a group effort and shared vision.
  • Proactively participate in management supervision, annual objective setting and PDP/appraisal processes.
  • The post holder will be expected to work independently and without supervision, to interpret national and Trust policies and guidance and advise the Divisional Team of appropriate action.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent practical experience specific to the role i.e. Lean/Improvement Tools/Change Management.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
Experience
  • Experience of project management and delivery from initial design to completion.
  • Experienced leader, able to lead teams of staff in complex or challenging change processes.
  • Experience of staff management and supervision.
  • Experience of matrix working, working to deliver projects with senior leads who are not in direct line management.
  • Experience working within the public or third sector.
  • Extensive experience in a management position or evidence complexity within experience to date.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Outstanding knowledge of commitments for mental health and learning disabilities in from the Long Term Plan and Mental Health Five Year Forward View.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Able to manage complex change programmes.
  • Able to manage and relate complex and highly sensitive information to all levels of staff within the organisation.
  • Flexible approach ensuring achievement of objectives within constantly changing and complex situations and environments.
  • Ability to present to multi-professional groups and facilitate workshops to deliver training on new ways of working.
  • Able to manage complex data or situations, analyse, interpret and identify trends and variances.
  • Facilitate groups helping them to identify problems, develop options and propose solutions.
  • Evidence of financial/budgetary management and monitoring skills.
  • Advanced IT skills in the use of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet and Project Management Software.
  • An understanding of NHS policy and the challenges facing the National and Local Health Economy.
