Job summary

Wellcome is seeking a Strategy Lead for Discovery in London, a 12-month fixed-term role. Salary range £78,160–£97,700, with hybrid working 3 days in the office and 2 remotely. Closing date 13 October 2026.

You'll influence the next phase of Discovery strategy, working closely with senior leadership to shape content, evidence and investment decisions. The role requires extensive strategy experience in large organisations, strong synthesis of evidence, and the ability to translate complex ideas

Qualifications

• Extensive experience developing strategy in large, complex organisations.
• Ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative evidence to inform planning.
• Proven track record producing high-quality materials for executive audiences.
• Experience working across multiple teams in matrixed environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead refinement of Discovery strategy for board-ready approval.
• Develop strategic content including theories of change and impact measures.
• Synthesize evidence from internal and external sources to inform planning.
• Produce papers and recommendations for Executive and Board discussions.
• Support transition from strategy development to implementation.
