Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the United Kingdom seeks a Strategy Consultant to support Digital, Data and AI advisory projects, turning insight into practical action and shaping strategic priorities with clients.

You will help define data‑focused strategies, roadmaps and investment decisions, collaborating across advisory, markets and technical disciplines to deliver measurable impact and responsible use of data and AI.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Supporting projects and workstreams to deliver high‑quality outputs, and ensuring recommendations reflect values around inclusion, sustainability and social value.
• Working with clients to understand how data is created, governed and used across their organisation, and identifying opportunities to improve how strategic decisions are supported by data.
• Supporting the development of data‑focused strategies, visions and roadmaps that improve data quality, strengthen governance and support future analytics and AI initiatives.
• Developing structured business cases and providing recommendations that help clients prioritise investment in data‑related initiatives.
• Applying systems thinking to uncover the digital and data implications of challenges that may initially appear operational, technical or process‑led.
• Assessing organisational operating models and supporting clients in improving data ownership, stewardship and governance arrangements.
• Working with colleagues across advisory, markets and technical disciplines to support approaches that link digital and data strategy to client context and practical delivery.
• Contributing to thought leadership, knowledge sharing and capability development activities that strengthen the Digital, Data and AI Advisory practice.
• Supporting business development, proposals and bid activities where appropriate, including helping identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients.

Our work brings together strategy, systems thinking and practical technology insight to help organisations understand their digital maturity, identify opportunities and risks, and make decisions that stand up to scrutiny. Across our key markets, clients are dealing with an explosion of information and are struggling to harness their data to meet their objectives, whether that’s improving service performance, modernising critical assets, meeting regulatory or security expectations, or planning major investment programmes. Many of these issues begin as operational, organisational or assurance challenges, but success depends on how well data is governed, managed, shared and applied. To strengthen our capability in this area, we are particularly interested in people with data management experience who can help clients build the foundations needed for better assurance, analytics, improved decision‑making and responsible adoption of AI. We are growing our multidisciplinary team, drawn from consulting, technology and data‑focused backgrounds. You may be a data strategist, information architect, digital consultant, or someone with broader experience looking to bring a stronger data lens to strategic work. Curiosity, systems thinking and the ability to connect digital, data and organisational context are all important, along with the ability to nurture trusted relationships with colleagues and clients.

As a Strategy Consultant, you support the delivery of Digital, Data and AI advisory services that turn insight into practical action. You contribute to projects and workstreams that shape strategic priorities, supporting clients through decisions that balance ambition with feasibility. Your focus is on supporting stakeholder alignment around a shared vision and creating clear, actionable plans that deliver measurable impact. By combining analytical rigour, strategic thinking and an understanding of clients’ operating environments, you help clients develop investment decisions and achieve outcomes that matter most to their business.

Your role

About you

• A naturally curious, collaborative and practical consulting style, with an interest in understanding client operating contexts and making sense of complex challenges.
• Consulting and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across stakeholder groups, communicate clearly and turn analysis into useful recommendations.
• An ability to work across business, operational and technical teams, helping translate client needs into clear data strategies, roadmaps and practical requirements.
• Knowledge or experience in Data Management, including data strategy, governance, stewardship and approaches for improving organisational data capability.
• An ability to adapt and apply knowledge and experience across different industry sectors and client maturity levels.
• A good understanding of how emerging technologies and modern digital approaches depend on trusted, well‑managed data.
• Awareness of the ethical and responsible considerations that shape how data and digital solutions are used.
• An understanding of business architecture, data architecture, operating model and organisational design concepts and how they relate to data and digital transformation.
• Exposure to one or more of our key markets, including Defence, Aerospace, Security, Energy, Utilities, Highways, Rail or the Public Sector, is an advantage but is not essential.
