Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is seeking a Waste & Contracts Manager for a London Borough, based in Havering with hybrid working. The role leads environmental service contracts, drives improvements in waste and recycling, and manages performance across the borough.

You will oversee procurement, contract delivery, budgets, and reporting, while developing a high-performing team and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Initial 3-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing waste, environmental, or public realm services.
• Strong contract management, commissioning, and procurement experience.
• Experience managing large budgets and delivering service improvements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of environmental and waste management legislation.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and project management abilities.
• Experience leading teams and driving organisational change.

Responsibilities

• Lead the procurement, commissioning, and management of environmental service contracts.
• Ensure contractors deliver high-quality, value-for-money services that meet performance standards.
• Drive strategic initiatives to improve waste management, recycling rates, and environmental outcomes.
• Manage budgets, performance data, and operational service delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with elected members, senior stakeholders, contractors, and partner organisations.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management, committees, and other forums.
• Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
• Manage customer enquiries, complaints, and service improvement programmes.
