Job summary

Animal and Plant Health Agency in Scotland seeks a Veterinary Lead Scotland to provide senior strategic leadership across dispersed teams during outbreaks, influencing policy and delivering Scottish Government priorities in animal health and welfare.

You will shape APHA's veterinary strategy, oversee clinical governance, and represent APHA at boards and national forums, driving cultural change with a flexible, digitally enabled approach.

Qualifications

• Experience providing strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge in veterinary public health settings.
• Knowledge of veterinary legislation, ethics and disease control.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise and deliver veterinary/technical activities to high standards.
• Lead on decisions with high impact and uncertainty using evidence-based risk assessments.
• Build relationships with policy customers and partners to influence outcomes.
• Monitor quality and enforce compliance with standards for contractors.
• Lead organisational change and promote flexible, digitally enabled working.
