Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Public & Government Affairs Manager to lead and execute public affairs and policy engagement programmes across a dedicated therapeutic area.

You will monitor political developments, influence the external policy environment, and build relationships with government, NHS stakeholders, healthcare bodies and industry groups to improve patient access to innovative medicines. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and budget management.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified or equivalent professional experience in public affairs or related field.
• Significant experience in public affairs, politics, government relations, healthcare policy, or related environment.
• Strong understanding of UK & Ireland political, policy, and healthcare landscape.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse political, policy, legislative and NHS developments; identify opportunities and risks for the business.
• Develop and execute public affairs and advocacy strategies that support business objectives and patient access.
• Provide strategic policy insight and counsel to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
• Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, government officials, NHS stakeholders, trade associations, and external partners such as think tanks.
• Represent Boehringer Ingelheim across industry bodies, including ABPI and other groups.
• Lead advocacy initiatives and policy engagement programmes to enhance reputation and influence.
• Develop consultation responses, briefing documents, position papers, presentations, and other policy communications.
• Partner with Market Access, Healthcare Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Medical, and Commercial teams to align messaging.
• Manage external agencies and Public & Government Affairs budgets.
• Ensure activities comply with ABPI Code and company compliance requirements.
