We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Strategic Projects Delivery Manager.

The Strategic Projects Delivery Manager is responsible for leading the governance, delivery and oversight of complex business strategic projects within Digital & IT and Technology Platforms. The role ensures that IT investment is aligned across business and functions and delivered successfully, ensuring value is realised.

The role will provide senior leadership, drive portfolio prioritisation and embed best practice across the Technology Platforms and Solution teams in Digital & IT.

Working across Civil and Defence to deliver strategic and complex capabilities the role will leverage Digital & IT capabilities from across the function aligned to agreed architectures.

What you will be doing:

In this role you own and manage the IT programme and project portfolio, ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities, as well as:

  • Lead portfolio governance processes, including demand management, investment appraisal, and prioritisation.
  • Provide executive level reporting and insights on risks and value.
  • Lead high profile and complex IT programmes ensuring delivery to agreed scope time cost and quality.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives translating technology initiatives into business outcomes.
Preferred requirements:
  • The role requires a thorough understanding of business operating models and product lifecycle management within Civil and Defence, as well as IT architectures and strategies.
  • Senior leadership experience - Strong leadership skills to direct cross‑functional teams and collaborate across all functional groups within TP and the wider D&IT organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a complex, multi‑faced and large‑scale Portfolio environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of programme and portfolio delivery.
  • Extensive financial management experience.
  • The ability to work with and communicate effectively across all levels within the organisation - exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary to translate complex technical information for non‑technical stakeholders, including executives and business leaders.
  • Strong ability to influence others through reasoned discussion and clear articulation.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex, ambiguous issues.
  • Strong attention to detail with meticulous organisational skills to manage schedules, documentation, and reporting.
  • The role will require UK SC clearance as a minimum.
