Job summary

Network Rail seeks a Head of Procurement & Commercial Strategy for a 12-month hybrid contract based in London or York. The role requires 3 days in the office weekly with remaining days remote.

You will lead complex, high-value procurement strategy, oversee major programmes, and drive supplier performance, governance and risk management to deliver savings. Essential: strong NR procurement knowledge, proven management of large procurements, and excellent negotiation and stakeholder skills.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Network Rail procurement processes and governance.
• Proven experience managing high-value, complex procurements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, high-value procurement and commercial strategies across the region.
• Manage delivery of major procurement programmes, including large-scale professional services contracts.
• Drive supplier relationship management, performance improvement, and commercial value generation.
• Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, governance, audit, and assurance requirements.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial, contractual, and supplier risks.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8 commercial professionals to deliver strategic commercial outcomes and savings.
