Job summary

McLaren Automotive is seeking a Commodity Buyer within the Powertrain procurement team in Woking. You will lead negotiating supplier contracts, develop sourcing strategies, and collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to achieve cost, quality and timing goals.

The role reports to the Procurement Manager and requires strong procurement experience in manufacturing, with MCIPS preferred. A structured development path and competitive package are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Engineering or related field preferred; MCIPS is desirable.
• Previous purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
• Solid experience in procurement or commodity buying.
• Experience developing structured commodity strategies with risk and cost assessments.
• Some experience negotiating complex contracts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to influence seniors.
• Good cost breakdown understanding and analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and finalize production supplier contracts for assigned commodities.
• Mitigate cost increases and drive cost-down activities within scope.
• Develop and deploy sourcing strategies with Engineering and Supplier Quality.
• Conduct supplier assessments and coordinate sourcing recommendations.
• Ensure suppliers meet program targets for timing, cost, quality and technical criteria.
• Serve as focal point for SRM activities with suppliers and internal customers.
• Support risk assessment, total acquisition cost analysis and cross-functional alignment.
