Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Planning Officer in Oldham on a full-time temporary basis. You will manage and assess planning applications, prepare reports, and advise applicants and developers on planning matters.

You will conduct site visits, liaise with consultees and internal departments, and present recommendations to Planning Committee when required. You will also handle appeals and maintain accurate records to support the Development Management service.

Responsibilities

• Manage and assess planning applications in line with legislation, local policies and guidance.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for planning decisions.
• Provide advice to applicants, architects, developers, councillors and the public on planning matters.
• Conduct site visits and evaluate development proposals and supporting documents.
• Liaise with consultees, stakeholders and internal departments throughout the planning process.
• Present applications and recommendations at Planning Committee meetings when required.
• Handle planning appeals, discharge of conditions and related casework.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to efficient delivery of the Development Management service.
