Job summary

Recruit-i is representing an established Teesside-based engineering business seeking to appoint a Planning Manager on a permanent basis. This delivery-focused role combines programme development, project controls and practical construction knowledge with leadership of the planning function.

The successful candidate will oversee tendering and active projects, collaborate with delivery teams and commercial colleagues to build credible programmes, monitor progress and respond to risks on site.

Qualifications

• Established background in planning or project controls within contracting, engineering or construction.
• Advanced, practical knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling and progress updates.
• Experience of construction-stage planning with site progress validation.
• Knowledge of progress measurement, labour productivity, resource forecasting and reporting.
• Exposure to engineering, energy, infrastructure, industrial or M&E project delivery.
• Ability to communicate programme risks and priorities to site-based and senior stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring or supervising planners or taking broader leadership responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Programme development and delivery: create integrated schedules from tender to completion and maintain progress updates.
• Performance monitoring: measure progress, investigate variances and propose corrective actions; build labour forecasts.
• Programme risk, change and contractual support: assess implications of changes and support time-impact analyses.
• Tendering and planning leadership: contribute to tender schedules and promote consistent planning standards across the business.
