Heriot-Watt University is seeking a Planning Analyst to join University Governance & Operations in Scotland. The role develops insight into strategic priorities, operational activity, financial performance, capacity and risk to support informed planning and decision-making across the institution.

The post holder will produce analysis, forecasts and management information, help embed planning standards and work with stakeholders to secure effective governance and resource allocation.

Qualifikationen

• Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience in planning, performance, change portfolio management, strategy, finance or related discipline.
• Experience in planning, performance, portfolio, PMO or similar environments in a complex organisation.
• Experience supporting financial planning, forecasting, prioritisation, management information, performance reporting, or resource allocation processes.
• Strong analytical skills, including interpreting financial, operational and performance information to identify impacts, risks and opportunities and develop evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience translating complex information into clear insights, reports and recommendations for decision-makers.
• Experience producing management information, governance materials, briefing papers and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across boundaries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.

Aufgaben

• Develop and maintain integrated planning artefacts to support university-wide planning and decision-making.
• Analyse planning, financial, performance and change information to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Support development of integrated planning, forecasting and scenario modelling capabilities.
• Support design and continuous improvement of the future planning model while ongoing operations continue.
• Develop and maintain management information, forecasts, dashboards and reporting for executive decision-making.
• Support planning cycles through analysis of submissions, impacts and risks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather inputs, challenge assumptions and improve data quality.
• Develop planning standards, templates and guidance for governance and consistency.
• Undertake capacity, workforce and affordability analysis to support investment decisions.
• Contribute to governance forums and executive reporting with planning insights and recommendations.
