Strategic Planning Consultant - £50 per hour

Location: Brentwood, Essex (Hybrid working considered)

Contract: 12 months (initial)

Tripod Partners are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Planning Consultant to support a range of high-priority infrastructure and policy planning projects for a Local Authority in Essex. This role involves providing specialist expertise across DCO processes, Gypsy and Traveller planning matters, and developer contributions governance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development Consent Orders (DCO):
    • Lead the Council's engagement in the Norwich to Tilbury DCO Examination in Public
    • Represent the Council in hearing sessions and prepare formal submissions
    • Coordinate response and oversight of the Lower Thames Crossing DCO, including review of key documents and S106 obligations
  • Gypsy and Traveller Policy:
    • Oversee policy development and assess planning applications involving Traveller communities
  • Infrastructure Planning:
    • Support governance and implementation of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and S106 contributions
    • Contribute to the development of an Infrastructure Investment Plan
Requirements
