Job summary

University of Greenwich is seeking a Strategic Planning Analyst to join the Strategic Planning, Insight & Improvement Directorate. You will enable better decision-making through data analysis, reporting, and governance, supporting a major Data & Reporting Transformation project and KPI development for the LASE multi-university group.

The role involves hybrid working, with the main office at the Greenwich Campus and occasional travel to other campuses.

Qualifications

  • First degree in a numerate discipline or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in data analysis and using data processing or visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau/Alteryx/Python/R).
  • Ability to work across teams and manage senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver operational performance reporting and MI at an institutional level for senior stakeholders.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify key trends and support policy development and planning.
  • Develop and maintain reports for technical and non-technical audiences to aid decision-making.
  • Support data transformation projects and data strategy implementation.
  • Contribute to communities of practice to improve data capability.

About the Job

As a Strategic Planning Analyst you will be joining the University’s Strategic Planning, Insight & Improvement Directorate with the goal to achieve better decision-making across the institution from the analysis, advice and insight we provide, to the trusted relationships we build with stakeholders and the data quality, governance and infrastructure that underpins it.

Now is a great time to join the Directorate as we look to deliver an exciting Data & Reporting Transformation Project and support the development of the strategy and KPIs for the new multi-university group.

Our main office is at the Greenwich Campus with very occasional travel to Avery Hill and Medway campuses required. We have actively embraced hybrid working with ourteamsplittingtheir time between2 days per week in the officeandtheremainderremote working.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Take responsibility for the operational delivery of performance reporting, business intelligence, management information and statistical analysis at an institutional level and to a dedicated number of senior internal stakeholders.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify key trends and patterns around a variety of strategic datasets (including student continuation, completion and awarding gaps) supported by topic specific analysis, enabling wider policy development and planning within the University.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of reports to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and support decision making.
  • Support the Directorate’s university-wide communities of practice (such as a data champions network) to improve organisational data and analysis capability.
  • Provide support to the implementation of data transformation projects and any such activities linked to the implementation of any data strategy.

What We’re Looking For:
  • First-degree level in computing, maths, statistics, data science or a similar numerate scientific discipline or relevant professional experience.
  • Significant experience in data analysis and the use of data processing or visualisation tools, as well as statistical/modelling applications (e.g. Microsoft Fabric environment, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R or similar applications/software).
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with colleagues from across the institution and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Capability to identify and address strategic challenges and business problems using data-driven approaches.
  • Ability to automate and improve processes to drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage a varied and demanding workload without constant supervision.
