Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Operations Superintendent to oversee and drive mining operations strategy. Based in East London with a hybrid model, the role emphasizes remote management, strategic planning, and on-site supervision to ensure safety, efficiency, and profitability.

You will lead site managers, optimize resources, and set performance targets while upholding regulatory standards and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in mining operations management with proven leadership.
• Strong knowledge of open-pit and/or underground mining methods.
• Excellent strategic planning and decision-making skills.
• Proven ability to manage remote teams and conduct effective on-site oversight.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic operational plans to achieve production, cost, and safety targets.
• Provide leadership and guidance to site-based operations managers and supervisors.
• Oversee the effective management of resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all operations.
• Analyze operational performance data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to drive efficiency.
• Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and high performance within the operations teams.
