Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a Crewing Manager in Glasgow to lead the transformation of our crewing function. You will oversee workforce planning, recruitment, retention, compliance and crew welfare, reporting to senior leadership and collaborating with third-party crewing partners.

Qualifications

• Significant marine personnel/crewing experience and workforce management expertise.
• Experience in senior maritime leadership roles.
• Proven track record leading change and transformation initiatives.
• Experience developing workforce strategies, succession plans and talent pipelines.
• Experience managing third-party crewing providers and external partnerships.
• Experience with maritime unions and collective bargaining.
• Budgeting, cost control and efficiency delivery experience.
• Experience supporting maritime audits and compliance programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead long-term crewing and marine HR strategy aligned to fleet growth and objectives.
• Drive transformational change across crewing operations and workforce capability.
• Develop workforce planning strategies including succession pipelines and talent pools.
• Build partnerships with operational leaders, HR, technical teams, and external crewing providers.
• Use workforce analytics to influence decision-making and improve performance.
• Champion seafarer welfare, wellbeing and engagement across the fleet.
• Ensure compliance with MLC, STCW, Flag State and client requirements; support audits.
• Lead and develop a high-performing crewing team with a culture of accountability.
