Job summary

Ordnance Survey is seeking an experienced Lead Network Engineer to provide technical leadership for our enterprise network infrastructure. You will lead architecture, design and delivery across data centres, cloud environments and remote sites, acting as the principal technical authority for networking.

You will develop a high-performing team, drive automation, and shape the network roadmap while collaborating with cybersecurity and other technology teams to deliver secure, integrated services.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with enterprise network infrastructure and leading large-scale network initiatives.
• Expert knowledge of networking protocols including BGP, VLANs and VPNs.
• Hands-on routing, switching, wireless, firewalls and cloud networking.
• Strong understanding of modern network security, segmentation and zero-trust approaches.
• Experience with network monitoring, automation and scripting.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex network issues; excellent leadership and stakeholder management.
• Industry-recognised networking certification such as Cisco CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
• Experience with Cisco switching and routing, Check Point firewalls and F5 BIG-IP.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for OS's enterprise network infrastructure.
• Lead architecture, design and delivery of enterprise network solutions across data centres, cloud environments and remote sites.
• Oversee network performance, capacity and operational health.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement to increase reliability and efficiency.
• Lead, coach and develop network engineers and technicians.
• Define and maintain the network technology roadmap and standards.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and other technology teams to deliver secure, integrated services.
