Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking an exceptional strategic leader for the role of Strategic Lead - Channel & Community Protection, based in Preston with a hybrid working pattern. You will chair the Channel Panel, oversee governance, and drive interventions to protect those at risk from radicalisation and other vulnerabilities across safeguarding partnerships.

The role requires senior leadership experience across safeguarding, extensive knowledge of the Prevent Duty and Channel processes, and

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in safeguarding, community safety, policing, public protection, education, local government or a related sector.
• Extensive knowledge of the Prevent Duty, Channel processes and safeguarding legislation.
• Experience chairing complex multi-agency panels and managing high-risk decision making.
• Proven track record of leading change, service improvement and organisational development.
• Exceptional communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Chair and lead Lancashire's multi-agency Channel Panel, ensuring governance and delivery of interventions.
• Lead strategic development of Prevent and Channel programmes and safeguarding initiatives.
• Provide expert assurance to Executive Leadership Team and elected members.
• Drive performance, quality assurance and continuous improvement across partnerships.
• Manage risk, governance and cross-agency collaboration at scale.
