Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is supporting a Swindon-based local authority to appoint a senior leader for Corporate Parenting services. This eight-month contract role requires strategic vision, strong safeguarding leadership, and proven ability to improve practice, performance, and outcomes for children in care and care-experienced young people.

The postholder will drive service development, oversee care planning and permanence, and collaborate with education, health and voluntary sector partners

Qualifications

• Recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Significant post-qualifying leadership development for statutory children’s social work.
• Senior leadership experience in statutory children’s social care.
• Experience of Ofsted inspections, improvement or transformation activity.
• Experience leading fostering, kinship care, permanence or leaving care services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Corporate Parenting services.
• Lead service improvement across children in care, fostering, kinship care, permanence, and preparation for adulthood.
• Develop and implement strategies delivering measurable improvements in practice, performance, quality and outcomes.
• Ensure governance, risk, quality assurance, and performance management arrangements are in place.
• Represent the Council at strategic partnerships and external meetings; collaborate with partners to improve outcomes.
• Manage significant budgets and resources and lead workforce development.
