Job summary

The Wings CE Trust is seeking an inspirational Deputy Headteacher for St Mark’s CE Primary School in Newtown (Wigan). The Post is full‑time, permanent, for January 2027, with Leadership Scale L7–L11 and a strong Christian ethos guiding all aspects of the role.

The successful candidate will lead school improvement, develop staff, and strengthen community partnerships while upholding safeguarding and inclusive practice.

Qualifications

• Significant successful primary teaching and leadership experience.
• Strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes.
• Ability to analyse data and lead school improvement strategies.
• Inspires, motivates and develops staff and pupils.
• Understanding of Church of England education and safeguarding commitments.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across the school.
• Champion high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour.
• Lead and develop staff through coaching and professional development.
• Drive school improvement through monitoring and evaluation.
• Promote and model the school’s Christian vision and values.
• Strengthen partnerships with parents, governors, the parish and community.
• Collaborate within the Multi-Academy Trust network.
