Job summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for an experienced Lead Cancer Nurse to shape cancer services across Somerset. You will provide strategic leadership for specialist cancer nurses and AHPs, driving patient-centred care, service improvements and governance across Trust and regional partners.
You will report to the Associate Director of Patient Care within Clinical Support & Cancer Services, leading workforce planning and development to ensure a skilled, resilient cancer nursing
Qualifications
- Experience as a cancer nursing leader with vision and credibility.
- Proven ability to lead specialist cancer nursing teams and AHPs.
- Strong track record in strategy, service improvement and governance.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and delivery of the Trust-wide Cancer Nursing Strategy.
- Provide professional leadership for specialist cancer nursing teams and AHPs.
- Champion high-quality, patient-centred cancer care across acute and community settings.
- Drive service improvement programmes, quality assurance and clinical governance.
- Lead workforce planning and succession planning for cancer nursing services.
- Collaborate with regional and national partners to influence cancer care delivery.
- Ensure patient experience and voice remain central to service development.
- Influence strategic decision-making at Trust, system and regional levels.
- Represent the Trust as a senior cancer nursing leader in regional and national forums.
