Job summary

A leading financial services provider is seeking a Strategic Buyer to manage IT and SaaS contracts for a 6-month remote-first contract. Candidates must be UK-based and have the ability to engage suppliers and manage end-to-end procurement processes. Ideal candidates will have strong experience in the field and possess excellent organisational and stakeholder engagement skills. Minimal office attendance is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Strategic Buyer, Senior Buyer or junior Commercial Manager.
  • Background in IT or SaaS contracts is essential.
  • Ability to interpret contract clauses and spot risks.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently at pace.
  • Effective stakeholder and supplier engagement skills.
  • Comfortable with data cleansing and dataset updates.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined commercial workstream from end to end.
  • Handle IT/SaaS renewals ranging from ~£30k to £500k.
  • Review contracts and flag risks, gaps or issues requiring specialist/legal input.
  • Maintain oversight of deliverables including progress tracking.
  • Engage suppliers, resellers and internal stakeholders across various functions.

On behalf of M&G, AMS are looking for a Strategic Buyer for a 6-month, remote-first contract (candidates must be UK-based and hold valid UK right to work documentation). The role will require very rare attendance at the office in London, expected once or twice during the contract length. We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer workplace accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

Responsibilities
  • Purpose of the role: M&G are seeking a versatile and highly self-sufficient Strategic Buyer with strong experience in IT and SaaS contracts to support the transition and delivery of a significant piece of commercial activity within the IT procurement function.
  • Manage a defined commercial workstream from end to end.
  • Handle IT/SaaS renewals ranging from ~£30k to £500k.
  • Review contracts and flag risks, gaps or issues requiring specialist/legal input.
  • Maintain oversight of deliverables including progress tracking, RAID updates and RAG reporting.
  • Cleanse and prepare contract and renewal data for operational use.
  • Conduct transactional procurement activity (renewals, basic sourcing).
  • Engage suppliers, resellers and internal stakeholders across IT, Legal, Commercial, PMO, etc.
  • Support preparation for handover to incoming permanent staff.
  • Update procurement and licensing systems (Oracle Fusion, others) and maintain accurate datasets.
  • Use Excel confidently to manage, track and update data.
