A leading engineering company in the UK is seeking a Stores Assistant to join their friendly team. The role involves maintaining stock accuracy, processing deliveries, and supporting engineering teams in a safety-focused environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in warehousing or logistics, basic IT skills, and a Full UK driving licence. Stores Assistant - Engineering business
Salary : £25,000 per annum
Hours : 37 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8am to 4.15pm, and a 2pm finish on Friday.
Contract : Temp to Perm (3 months, then permanent)
Annual Leave : 25 days + 8 bank holidays
On Call : 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 weeks (remote cover via phone and very rarely called) - extra £225 / week
Training : Forklift licence & safety training provided

We’re recruiting for a Stores Assistant - You'll be part of a close‑knit team responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, processing deliveries, and supporting engineering teams. This is a steady, structured position where attention to detail matters more than speed.
Logging all goods in and out, following company procedures
Issuing and dispatching parts to internal teams
Using stock control and inventory systems (training provided)
Updating Excel logs (no complex formulas needed)
Coordinating deliveries, couriers, and transport logs
Maintaining excellent housekeeping in the Stores area
Participating in on‑call rota (rarely contacted - handled remotely)
Supporting calibration, PAT testing and stock counts Training & Safety
Full safety and lifting training provided (max manual lift 25kg)
Forklift licence training covered if not already certified
PPE supplied (hi‑vis, safety boots, hard hat - or bring your own boots if preferred)
Regular refresher and safety compliance training
Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, logistics, or inventory environment
Basic IT skills - confident using databases and Excel
Full UK driving licence (car or motorbike) - required for occasional travel between sites (~12 minutes apart)
Must pass a drug & alcohol screening, basic medical, and DBS check
British passport holder or settled status in the UK
Monday-Thursday : 8 : 00am - 4 : 15pm (30 min lunch)
Friday : 8 : 00am - 2 : 00pm
On Call : Weeklong rotation every 4-5 weeks (rarely contacted; remote access via laptop and phone)
£225 additional pay per on‑call week
If on call over a Bank Holiday, you'll receive an extra day off in lieu
Experience with warehousing, logistics, inventory systems, stock control, factory operations, or engineering stores
Practical mindset and willingness to learn
Strong attention to detail and team spirit
Steady approach to work and commitment to safety standards
