Job summary

Arriva is seeking an experienced Stores/Material Handler to join the Material Team in Crewe. You will load and unload deliveries, perform goods inwards, and book stock into SAP. You will put away materials, manage storage locations, and issue items both physically and in SAP as needed.

You will also prepare material against kit lists and support stock counts. You will deputise for the Store Person as required and ensure housekeeping and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience in stores/warehouse operations.
• Ability to handle goods receipts and put-away processes.
• Proficiency with SAP for goods in/out and stock control.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload delivery vehicles.
• Conduct goods inward inspections and record in SAP.
• Put away delivered material into correct storage locations; manage bin locations in SAP.
• Issue material physically and in SAP as required.
• Prepare and pick material against kit lists and deliver to point of use; book out in SAP.
• Return unneeded material to location and record in SAP.
• Return material for overhaul to suppliers, properly packaged.
• Cover Stores Person when required.
• Assist with periodic stock counts.
• Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of areas.
• Operate forklift for stores and shop floor needs.
• Carry out simple cleaning/maintenance on rail vehicles as directed.
• Collect and deliver to local supplier/sites as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety and railway standards.

Job description

A key role within the Material Team, operating in a dynamic engineering environment, reporting to the Stores Team Leader.

• Loading and unloading of delivery vehicles
• Undertaking goods inward inspections and book into SAP as appropriate
• Put away delivered material into correct storage locations & manage bin locations in SAP
• Controlled issuing of ad hoc material both physically and in SAP
• Preparing and picking material against pre-defined kit lists and delivering to point of use materials storage area, booking out to defined sub-jobs in SAP
• Collect material not required from point of use areas and return to location in stores and return in SAP appropriately
• Return material required for overhaul etc to suppliers packaged and protected appropriately
• Deputise for Store Person as required
• Assist with undertaking periodic stock counts
• Responsible for ensuring good housekeeping and cleanliness in general areas
• Forklift driving duties as required covering stores and shop floor requirements
• Carry out cleaning or simple supervised maintenance tasks on rail vehicles at the discretion of the Team Leader
• Collection & delivery to local supplier/Arriva TrainCare sites as and when required
• Ensure compliance to safety and railway group standards or other appropriate regulatory standards as applicable
